Mtwalume is a small seaside village it is predominantly a holiday and fishing village. situated in the Umdoni Coast of KZN. This quaint village was named after the Mtwalume tree which is derived from isiZulu and refers to the tall upright trees growing on the river bank. Also used by the Zulus for traditional Medicinal purposes.
Mtwalume has been a holiday town for years and thankfully remains so, with only a couple of shops. The main feature is the lagoon formed where the Mtwalume River meets the sea. The tidal pool and rock pool make this a wonderful space for children.
Mtwalume offers various activities such as fishing, surfing, and swimming, deep-sea-fishing. The annual sardine run from July to October is a big attraction, as are the whales that will be seen from August to October. Whale watching is very popular from June to November as well as many Dolphins. Furthermore, you can spot a diverse array of birds, butterflies, monkeys, and reptiles throughout the village.

Check-in time is 2pm and check-out time is 10am.
Yes, a breakage fee is required upon arrival, payable in cash. This fee will be refunded on the day of departure.
Please note that the number of people booked is the number of people allowed to stay. An additional charge of R200.00 will apply per extra overnight guest. Day visitors are welcome, but please inform us in advance.
We kindly welcome families to our family-owned units.
We appreciate your understanding that we are unable to accommodate party groups.
Some units are pet friendly and others are not.
If a unit specifies no pets, this policy must be strictly followed.
If you bring a pet, you will need to arrange alternative accommodations for it, such as a doggie hotel, or the booking will be canceled without a refund.
